John Watling has been designing and making classic and timeless gold, platinum, silver and precious-stone set jewellery from the medieval Wiltshire village of Lacock for the last 30 years.
The craftsmanship learnt in his father’s workshop, from the time John was old enough to peer over his workbench, was honed with a traditional apprenticeship in London at the home of Boodles Fine Jewellery and perfected in the family business over the ensuing years.
John’s new studio, located in the picturesque village pottery, is the obvious progression to his career, enabling him to take his passion for creating bespoke pieces to a whole new level.
This is a tranquil place where John can spend one-to-one time with each client in order to translate their imagined designs into stunning, meticulously hand-crafted pieces.
Clients are welcomed into the contemporary but cosy studio by John’s lovely wife Azar. Here they can either gain inspiration from a range of John’s past creations or explore with the maker their own interpretations of a beautiful new piece or reworked family gem.
Whether you’re looking for a special gift for a loved one, a thank you, a keepsake or even just a personal treat, there are many wonderful reasons to commission a timeless piece of bespoke jewellery.
"I never lose the feeling of delight I get from seeing a client’s excitement and joy at receiving their new or reworked treasure. Your story is at the heart of what I do, and I love nothing more than to help you tell it."
